The puzzle of bone synthesis in laboratory

Prof. dr. Janis Locs, Institute of General Chemical Engineering, Riga Technical University

18th May 2022 at 12.00 CET or 13:00 Riga Time, YouTube and Zoom

We will discuss the complex composition of bone from the materials scientist point of view and the efforts done so far to mimic the bone and synthesise the materials in the laboratory. The presentation will include both, the info from literature and the research results from the lab at the Institute of General Chemical Engineering, Riga Technical University, mainly focusing on calcium phosphates, composites. At the very beginning, the role our laboratory in FLAMIN-GO project will be presented.

Prof. Janis Locs is director of Institute of General Chemical Engineering at Riga Technical University and leading researcher at the Rudolfs Cimdins Riga Biomaterials Innovations and Development Centre. His main competences are synthesis and investigation of composites and calcium phosphate based biomaterials for bone regeneration. He is an author of more than 90 scientific papers and several international patents.
